Dec. 7th, 2001 11:49 amjohn ashcroft has a message for me. "To those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: your tactics only aid terrorists," he says. i just don't see how that statement of john ashcroft's is so different from jerry falwell's initial statements that 9/11 was a consequence of god removing his protection from the US out of anger over what the ACLU and feminists had been doing. so, by being concerned about civil liberties right now, i am aiding terrorism! since i've been complying with demands to shop to combat terror, though (raising the economy !), i'm not sure how it all balances out--do i result in a net gain or loss to terror?
that quote really disturbs me. when added to that report that came out a few weeks ago about how student comments during war protests are un-american and help terror, it seems like the only thing we're allowed to do to combat terror is to shop while mutely cheering any crazy thing the president gets it into his head to do. *sigh*
