we came to see a rock show!

thatabbygirlwent to a show tonight, for the first time in a while. it was a fun night out, made better by the fact that the venue had benches on the balcony, so i got to sit down the whole time. thus, my back & feet are not in angry-pain!
the bands (in order of appearance):
young heart attack: i don't know if these guys were local or what, but they sucked. they and their songs belonged in the 70's, but they wouldn't have been considered good even then.
the catheters: surprisingly uneven. their good songs were pretty good, but a lot of their songs felt like mediocre filler. the lead singer was diving all over the place, which was a bit odd given how early in the night it was. i was disappointed.
burning brides: i only knew two songs of theirs, and they only played one of them. i was pleasantly surprised to see that the bass player was a hot chick, wearing a camo miniskirt and fishnets. woo! they were definitely hard rock with noticable metal tinges. their drummer is an Animal. not my favorite kind of music, but well executed.
and the headliners:
division of laura lee. they Rule! it really cleared things up for me to find out not all of the songs are sung by the same guy. the main lead singer looked nothing like i thought he would, and was prominently missing a few teeth, to my horror. (i have a tooth phobia issue.) they were totally fantastic, played my two favorite songs ('trapped in' and 'wild and crazy') and generally rocked the fucking house.
i love it when bands make fun of LA, too. it's so funny. tonight: "for this song, just get up and dance. pretend you're not in hollywood. nobody is watching you! do what you want!"
good night out. came home with pins for burning brides (love their logo--a skull shape made of human figures) and division of laura lee. and ringing ears.
