my sex life: a music review

thatabbygirli've missed this song. it's totally ridiculous and the lyrics are cheesy as can be. yet i remember doing a dance routine to the song at a kidskits camp up in grand junction one summer as a kid - and i thought this song was the raciest thing that could ever be. i remember gasping at george michael's "i want your sex" and playing it with my friends in my room on my clock radio and turning the volume down whenever he said the word "sex".
sex seems a lot more complicated now, and the songs i find sexy are just as complicated. it's not just florid descriptions of the mechanics (thanks, johnny gill) or um, uneuphemistic requests for booty. it's lines like "panther girl, take me home/hip to hip, bone to bone" from primal scream's "miss lucifer". it's clever come-ons like "i'm your book of the month, read the fine print later" from lovage's "book of the month". hell, even the "choke me spank me pull my hair" from the xzibit song is appealing. but hard to figure out and come to terms with. difficult concepts and difficult implementation. dealing with other people who may be listening to different songs than i am.
so it's funny that mariah carey songs can seem calming and inspiring, but it's better than being in a peaches song. i had a vision of love indeed.
