argh. this paper that i am turning is is not up to my personal standards. unfortunately, the amount of time between now and when it's due does not allow me to make the (rather significant and substantive) changes that i would like to make. clearly the only possible solution (and the one i have adopted) is to put off making even minimal polishing changes while i beat myself up over and over again about letting things get to this point.

life would be so much easier if i just abandoned these expectations i have for my own performance. nobody else gives a shit about this. argh!
